Libertas refuses to go public on party funding despite claims to be the party of transparency

Despite their claim to be the party of transparency Libertas have again failed to make public the sources of their funding and details of defence contractor Rivada Networks early funding. Rivada Networks offices, phones and paid employees David Cochrane and Naoise Nunn were all utilised to set up Libertas.

The story in the Irish Independent today is highly topical given the funding scandal that is taking place over Libertas in Poland

Libertas founder to fund Polish party through the back door?

30th March 2009

Irish millionaire businessman Declan Ganley plans to take advantage of a loophole in Polish law that would allow him to fund the Polish branch of euroskeptic political party Libertas.

Polish law bans foreign financial funding in domestic politics, but Ganley appears to have found a way to bypass current legislation. The founder of Libertas and ardent euroskeptic proposes to act as a guarantor if Libertas Poland are unable to repay the bank loans issued to run the party.

The story broke in Saturday's edition of Dziennik and provoked outrage amongst politicians, who described the news as “scandalous.”

Zbigniew Chlebowski, PO's parliamentary club leader, called the news “unsettling” as, “a bank guarantee that gives a party money for elections can be given by a person that is prohibited by law to do so. This means to circumvent the existing rules,” he said.

Mr Chlebowski called for fast and decisive action in dealing with Mr Ganley's proposed funding, and expects advice from specialist lawyers to be available in the coming days.

Libertas refuses to go public on party funding

By Aine Kerr Political Correspondent

Tuesday March 31 2009

LIBERTAS last night supplied the State's ethics watchdog with a series of financial documents in a bid to provide "detailed answers" about its funding.

But the anti-Lisbon Treaty organisation will not be making public any copies of the bank statements or loan agreements, despite its own calls for greater political transparency.

Two weeks ago, the organisation failed to provide adequate information to the Standards in Public Office (Sipo) commission on where it got the money to fund its expensive campaign for a 'No' vote in the Lisbon Treaty referendum. It has since been accused of "not being willing to operate under the Law" by Fianna Fail.

Libertas last night submitted documents in relation to three key issues queried. Copies of a €200,000 loan agreement between Libertas chief Declan Ganley and the organisation were provided, after Sipo first wrote to it last June seeking details of any loans provided to the organisation for the referendum campaign.

Details of the thousands of books on the Lisbon Treaty supplied by the Foundation for European Democracy and distributed by Mr Ganley were also submitted.

Sipo had raised questions about whether these constituted a donation because the material could be deemed to be influencing the vote's outcome.

However, legal advisers for Libertas are said to have argued that the books do not constitute a donation because the material was neutral and simply relayed the contents of the Lisbon Treaty.

The third aspect of the submission covers the employees of Mr Ganley's Rivada company, who worked for Libertas in their spare time and on a voluntary basis. Sipo again questioned if the use of these employees constituted a donation. Documents provided seek to outline when staff worked for Rivada, then moved to Libertas.

Asked why the organisation had decided against making the documents public, a spokesman said: "Why would we make them public, spend weeks explaining the details and have the Opposition attacking the contents when they won't do the same thing. There's a need for fairness."

Libertas deny that Ganley is funding Polish campaign. Polish daily Dziennik says story is true and confirmed by mulitple Libertas Poland sources

Lying Libertas Lie Again

This blog broke the story in the English language on Saturday morning at 6.15am. See here

The Irish Times has an interesting follow up in today's paper.

Sadly we are faced with yet another denial by one Libertas spokesperson in the face of other Livberats sources confirming the story.
Ganley's personal spokesperson John McGuirk says
Mr Ganley was not giving such guarantees. “ was asked a hypothetical question and he gave an answer he shouldn’t have,” said Mr McGuirk. “He answered it in a stupid manner, to be honest."

However the story is confirmed by several sources within Libertas Poland including one of its Vice Presidents Artur Zawisza who said "The most important thing for banks is to assess the creditworthiness and the collateral. I know they consulted with Mr. Declan Ganleyem" - when asked about the source of funding election campaigns.

So who is lying Libertas Ireland or Libetas Poland?

Libertas denies Ganley is funding Polish campaign

DEREK SCALLY in Berlin and COLM KEENA Public Affairs Correspondent

LIBERTAS HAS denied reports that founder Declan Ganley will in effect personally bankroll the European election campaign of its newly founded Polish branch by guaranteeing bank loans for the party.

The Polish daily Dziennik at the weekend reported assertions from a Libertas Polska party source that the party hoped to raise a loan of €250,000 on the basis of guarantees from Mr Ganley.

Such a loan guarantee, although legal, would effectively circumvent Polish legislation that bans foreign funding of Polish domestic politics, and the suggestion has prompted a heated reaction in the country.

Libertas spokesman John McGuirk insisted yesterday, however, that Mr Ganley was not giving such guarantees. “ was asked a hypothetical question and he gave an answer he shouldn’t have,” said Mr McGuirk. “He answered it in a stupid manner, to be honest.”

Dziennik stood by its story yesterday, citing confirmation of the plan from several sources within the party.

Libertas insists it is financing its campaign to field candidates EU-wide in the June European elections through donations and fundraising.

History has left Poles acutely sensitive to foreign influence on domestic politics and the Libertas report has prompted concern that it could set a dangerous precedent in Polish politics.

“Today it’s Irish money, tomorrow will it be Russian money?” asked Dziennik opinion editor Michal Karnowksi.

“It’s a trick to get the money they cannot accept directly from abroad. It was obvious that Libertas Polska had no money of their own and that Ganley was going to give money, the question until now was just how he was going to do it.”

The Polish election commission, which can examine party financing only in the aftermath of an election, has, however, said campaign loans guaranteed by non-Polish citizens are legitimate. Leading figures in Poland’s ruling Civic Platform (PO) party called it “unsettling” for a party to “get money for elections from a person prohibited by law to do so”.

“This means to circumvent the existing rules,” said Zbigniew Chlebowski, PO parliamentary leader.

Dziennik claims that Libertas Polska will have access to €250,000, as will the Libertas party in Slovakia.

Libertas in Latvia, the newspaper claimed, would have funding of €100,000.

Mr Ganley says Libertas drew down €200,000 during last year’s Lisbon campaign in Ireland from a credit facility he put in place. Today is the deadline for Libertas to submit bank account statements for donations and a document certifying all donations received to the Standards in Public Office Commission (SIPO).

Declan Ganley will finance the anti-Lisbon campaign in Poland. His allies, who have no money, claim he will guarantee their loan and repay if himself after the election.

As "Gazeta Wyborcza" reports, the Libertas crowd in Poland have found a legal loophole to get financing from abroad. Daniel Pawłowiec, one of the Polish Libertas activists told "Gazeta" Mr. Ganley will guarantee a loan they will take. Another anonymous activist told "Dziennik" daily that the loan would be repaid by Mr. Ganley after the election.

Libertas Germany are charging 240 Euro or 1% of students income for membership per annum

Libertas Germany are charging 250 Euro for annual membership and 1% of income from students and unemployed. They have a minimum membership fee for the latter two categories of 24 Euro. They are currently seeking to collect 4000 signatures to allow them, to run in the European elections in Germany. These they are collecting in the street and at train stations. Is 240 Euro not an elitist fee level for membership to an untried political party that has no policies?

Libertas Election Financing ? How Libertas circumvent election laws to receive Ganley's money revealed by Polish Libertas VP

Vice President of Libertas Poland, Artur Zawisza, confirms funding circumvention.

In order circumvent the law regarding election financing Declan Ganley and his Libertas are reported to be using a clever ruse. Individual national branches are reported to be taking out bank loans which are secured by Declan Ganley according to one report.
These loan allow the national branch of Libertas to fund itself with money that originates in their own countries. However, it is reported that after the elections the national branches of Libertas will default on the loan allowing the banks to seek their repayment from the guarantor.

By using this facility the national branches of Libertas can flout their country's laws and receive as much cash as Ganley is prepared to give them.

As the "loans" from the banks are just that, loans, the upper limits on donations will also not apply. The fact that Declan Ganley will later repay the loans means that he technically is NOT funding the elections, they are bank loans are, he will be technically financially covering defaulted loans not the elections themselves directly.

Therefore when Ganley says that he will not be funding the European election he is technically correct. What he omitted to say was that he had worked out a cleaver scam that allows him to pay for the elections later while being able to deny that he is paying for the elections now. Ganley will be merely paying back loans that other people took out and he guaranteed.

This story is breaking in from Poland today with reports confirming that Libertas is availing of this loop hole in Polish electoral law which strictly outlaws Polish parties from taking money from foreign political parties and individuals.
According to one report
"Our electoral system, however, prohibits the financing of party committees and candidates from abroad. To circumvent this prohibition , Polish Libertas take out loans on which the security//property will be provided by an Irish multimillionaire. After the Polish campaign Libertas will not pay its debts, the guarantor will do so, that is, Ganley"
'Dziennik': Start w wyborach? Ganley nam zap?aci

Thomas Butkiewicz writing for Dziennik says that one of the Polish Vice Presidents of Libertas, the League of Polish Families Daniel PAWŁOWIEC, said that Libertas would fully comply with funding laws.
However his co Vice President Artur Zawisza let the cat out of the bag by going further confirming both this source of funding and Declan Ganley's personal involvement in the ruse. ""The most important thing for banks is to assess the creditworthiness and the collateral. I know they consulted with Mr. Declan Ganleyem" - when asked about the source of funding election campaigns.

So far Libertas Poland is reported to have received 250,000 euro, Libertas Slovenia 250,000. euro and Libertas Lithuania has so far received 100,00 using this ruse.

According to a source are using this device throughout Europe to "circumvent the electoral law".

In Ireland in 2008 Ganley said his anti-Lisbon campaign was funded by many legal small donations but Ganley later admitted "loaning" Libertas 200, 000k. The source of the estimated 1.5 million euro that Libertas spent has never been disclosed.
This figure was more than twice what Ireland's senior government partner Fianna Fail spent.

How does a party that says it will bring democracy and transparency while fighting elites maintain credibility when they use such a ruse to deliberately circumvent national laws, while at the same time taking money
This lack of clarity and transparency and the deliberate searching out and use of loopholes is quite the opposite of what Declan Ganley is saying his party stands for.

Mr transparency Declan Ganley is leading this subterfuge.

Economic Crisis fails to help Eurosceptics and far Right in central and eastern europe

Economis Crisis 'not helping' Eurosceptics gain ground in eastern and Central Europe

other languages available [fr][de]

Euractiv.com

Published: Friday 27 March 2009

The global economic crisis, which has severely hit Central and Eastern Europe, does not appear to have strengthened the positions of various extremist and Eurosceptic political groups there, shows a round-up by EurActiv's network in the region.

With just ten weeks to go until the EU elections, and despite numerous problems caused by the economic recession and its associated capital outflow, the political landscape in Central and Eastern European countries depicts a stagnant if not downward trend in support for the region's extreme-right, extreme-left, nationalist and anti-European forces.

After five years of EU membership, support for Eurosceptics in Poland - the biggest EU country in Central and Eastern Europe - has noticeably fallen. In Romania, the region's second-largest country, recent elections kept the extremists out of the national parliament (EurActiv 15/12/08).

Inspired by external political factors such as the Irish-born Libertas movement, mobilisation against the Lisbon Treaty is failing to gain momentum in many countries in the region, like Bulgaria, Romania and even Hungary, where societies do not appear to be particularly interested in the details of the new EU treaty. Such mobilisation is apparently only working to a limited extent in Poland and Slovakia.

Czech Republic

But in the Czech Republic, where the Lisbon Treaty in fact lies stalled in the Senate, the subject is perhaps bringing together political forces as diverse as the Communists (who are at least in theory internationalists) and sovereignists.

The far-left Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) is the only extremist party expected to win several seats in the European Parliament this June. Although not openly Eurosceptic or anti-EU, the Communists – using revolutionary rhetoric - are vehemently opposed to cooperation with NATO and the United States.

Under the veil of promoting peace, the party is against the development of EU military capacities, against the deployment of army units on missions abroad, against the presence of foreign troops on Czech territory and thus against the idea of EU becoming a significant player on the international scene. Party leaders consistently avoid the question of adopting the euro, as well as ratifying the Lisbon Treaty.

In 2004, KSČM won six seats (with 20% of the vote) out of the 24 reserved for Czech MEPs, and thus ranked second in the elections just after the Civic Democrats (ODS), who gained nine seats. The latest survey (conducted in February 2009) indicates that the Communists would now rank third after ODS and the Social Democrats (ČSSD) with 16% of the vote.

The prospects of far-right, nationalist and other Eurosceptic parties are dim, mainly due to their similar manifestoes and agendas. Vladimír Železný founded a party called 'Libertas.cz', which was originally meant to be a sister party of Declan Ganley's 'Libertas.eu'. But in the meantime, Železný has distanced himself from Ganley and even labelled Czech President Václav Klaus his 'guru'.

Almost all of the new right-wing Eurosceptic parties, including Petr Mach's Party of Free Citizens (SSO) and Jana Bobošíková's coalition of parties, called 'Suverenita' (Sovereignty), look up to the president and seek his blessing.

The appearance of new Eurosceptic parties is a reaction to Klaus's call for the creation of a new political force. In early March, Klaus called upon the numerous Eurosceptic parties to work together so that they have a chance of winning seats in the European Parliament elections. This is because Mach – a Klaus protégé – has been refusing to cooperate with Železný and Bobošíková.

The radical Workers' Party (DS), which is believed to have close ties with the Neo-Nazi movement, has also declared its intention to run in the upcoming Parliament elections. The government moved to ban the party recently, but failed to provide sufficient evidence to the court. Their popular support is insignificant.

Slovakia

None of the Slovak political parties is offering an alternative to Slovak membership in the European Union. The only relevant party that criticises the EU and is against the ratification of Lisbon Treaty is KDH (the Christian Democratic Movement), a member of pro-Lisbon EPP-ED group.

According to KDH leaders, the Lisbon Treaty takes too many powers away from Bratislava in favour of Brussels, and diminishes the weight of Slovakia in the Council of Ministers, and it thus sees it as a threat to national sovereignty. KDH also sees problems related to the possible impact of the Charter of Fundamental Rights on national legislation governing ethical issues. KDH is expected to make it to the EU assembly again with two seats, according to estimates.

Another political party with similar Eurosceptic views is KDS (the Conservative Democrats of Slovakia). The party was only recently established, by four leading figures who left KDH and formed a candidate list for the European elections together with a non-parliamentary party (OKS, Citizen-Conservative Party). But they are not expected to make it to the European Parliament, as their support is very modest at present.

The right-wing OKS (Civic Conservative Party), which alone has minimal popular support (less than 1%), basically wants the EU to be reduced to governing the single market, because according to them, almost all other areas should be taken at national level. They claim that the European Parliament should be dissolved, because they do not consider it a proper parliament: they see no 'European nation' for it to represent.

As for the nationalist camp, the Slovak National Party (SNS), which is currently not represented in the EU assembly, it could gain two or a maximum of three seats, according to estimates. It is supposed to become part of Union for Europe of Nations (UEN) group. SNS also sees Slovakia's EU membership as an "unavoidable decision". But surprisingly, as a member of Fico's governing coalition, it supported the Lisbon Treaty without reservation in the Slovak parliament.

Libertas founder Declan Ganley announced plans to establish 'Libertas Slovakia' during his visit to the country in February. It is still not registered, however, and no official candidates are known.

Poland

The League of Polish Families (LPR), a Eurosceptic party which no longer has representatives in the Parliament, is trying to prove itself in the upcoming EU elections. They too are cooperating with Ganley, and hope to get into the EP by means of a Libertas list.

Libertas has been just registered in Poland and is headed by Daniel Pawlowiec of the LPR and Artur Zawisza of the Rights of the Polish Republic (PR) party, which also hopes to use his electoral platform.

In spite of unfavourable polls, Roman Giertych, a former LPR president and ex-deputy prime minister, said he was sure that this party would be represented in the new EP. In the first Polish EU elections in 2004, LPR won second place, with over 15%, and now has ten MEPs.

Another group of Eurosceptics is being prepared by politicians close to the ultra-catholic Radio Maryja. Some of them stem from the PiS (Law and Justice) party established in 2001 by the Kaczyński twins. The ex-ruling conservative party can count on the support of this controversial, but nevertheless popular, radio station.

Hungary

In Hungary, the most visible part of the extremist political landscape is Magyar Gárda (Hungarian Guard), an extreme right, nationalist and paramilitary movement reminiscent of Fascist times. Its members have been active, marching in uniforms and staging assaults against Roma and other ethnic groups.

The Magyar Gárda was registered as an organisation to "protect the country's heritage and culture" in June 2007, with the aim of establishing a "framework for national defence". The first 56 members of the movement were inducted in August 2007.

In December last year, a Budapest court ruled that the organisation must be disbanded, a ruling which the Magyar Gárda is in the process of appealing. Gabor Vona, the founding chairman of the Magyar Gárda and head of the Jobbik party, said the movement's members would "write a new chapter in Hungarian history".

Krisztina Morvai, who heads the party's list for the upcoming European parliamentary elections, said her party would make every effort to "regain national assets illicitly given away" and added that all laws should be abolished that "granted privileges to foreigners to the detriment of Hungarians".

Morvai, who has described Hungary's government as a "gang of robbers", also said loans taken from the International Monetary Fund and other international banks should be considered as repaid and Hungary should not make any further debt-servicing payments.

Romania

The ultra-nationalist Greater Romania Party (PRM) leader Corneliu Vadim Tudor announced he would top his party's list for the Parliament elections. After winning almost 20% of the vote in the national legislative elections in 2000, the hold of this political force is declining and in the last elections, PRM was unable to enter parliament, after only receiving 3.15% of the vote and failing to reach the 5% threshold. Tudor, once a Communist propagandist reborn into nationalism, draws inspiration mainly from anti-Hungarian conspiracy theories.

George Becali's New Generation Party, often seen as intolerant and far right, also failed to make the Parliament. Becali, also known as Gigi Becali, is a controversial businessman and politician, mostly known for his involvement in football. Becali claims he is a follower of the fascist Romanian Legionnaire Movement.

One of his favourite targets are homosexuals, and he even threatened to "finish" them if he is given the power. At the elections for the European Parliament, held in November 2007, his party (PNG-CD) obtained 4.86% of the popular vote, just under the 5% threshold.

Bulgaria

The electoral list of extremists Ataka will probably be topped by the current MEPs from this political party, MEP Dimitar Stoyanov recently said. A recent survey shows that some 9% of the voters could back Ataka at the forthcoming European elections, as well as for the parliamentary elections to be held a few weeks later.

Stoyanov became known in the European Parliament two years ago, by sending an email to every MEP attacking Lívia Járóka, a Hungarian MEP of Roma origin and the 'MEP of the Year'. Stoyanov's email stated that his own country had the "prettiest Gypsies" and informed anyone who was interested that he knew where you could buy 12-year-old Gypsy brides for "up to €5,000". Stoyanov is certain to stay on as an MEP, because the leader of Ataka, Volen Siderov, is his step-father.

Quoted by the daily Dnevnik, sociologist Yuriy Aslanov said probably the only Bulgarian parties to make it to the European Parliament will be the Bulgarian Socialist party (a PES member), GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria), a recent political player built around current Mayor of Sofia Boyko Borissov and affiliated to the EPP-ED, DPS (Movement of Rights and Freedoms), a Turkish ethnic party affiliated to ALDE, and Atak

The modern incarnation of the All-Polish Youth was founded in Poznań in 1989, on the initiative of Roman Giertych, the former leader of the League of Polish Families (LPR). Continuing the tradition of its precursors, the organisation maintains its aim of raising youth with their ideology, and operates across all of Poland, working with high-school and university students. The membership of the organisation is approximately 3,000 people.

In 2006 the office of the Polish public prosecutor has launched an investigation after video recording from a private party in which All-Polish Youth members including Leokadia Wiącek, a personal assistant of Maciej Giertych (member of the European Parliament), were seen fraternizing with Neo-Nazi skinheads, listening to Neo-Nazi bands and saluting the swastika, was leaked to Polish press[6][7][8].

WARSAW (EJP)--- The office of the Polish public prosecutor has launched an investigation after a movie clip featuring a group of youngsters gathering around a burning swastika and chanting “Sieg Heil” was sent to one of the country’s daily newspapers.

The editors of Dziennik reported on 28 November that they were sent the 60-second-long film portraying the activities of the All-Polish Youth (APY), creating massive controversy around Poland over the group.

All-Polish Youth is a radically nationalist and anti-Semitic organization associated with the League of Polish Families – a right-wing party that is currently in the government coalition.

Polish deputy primer minister and minister of education Roman Giertych is a creator and honorary president of the APY.

Journalists, when watching the movie clip, have recognized Leokadia Wiacek and Pawel Schmidt. Wiącek is currently a personal assistant of MEP Maciej Giertych, father of Polish deputy prime minister and gained notoriety recently for his call to remove evolution theory from Polish schools.

Schmidt was a candidate from the list of Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński’s Low and Justice Party in the municipal elections that took place a month ago. However he was not elected to the Council of the City of Zabrze is southern Poland.

Prison possibility

The public prosecutor general office already started an investigation. According to the Polish Criminal Code propagation and publish showing of Nazi symbols is prohibited and punished even by imprisonment. Prosecutors are now trying to identify as many people from the movie as possible to indict them.

“Stand up and beat this canting Jewish mug / And proudly fight and proudly shout: / For the white race, for the Polish blood! / Without mercy kill it, without scruples beat the evil” – these are words of the song that was played during the “swastika party”.

This is not the first time when Polish media reveal this kind of materials about the All-Polish Youth. It the past all Poles could watch some other short movies or photos depicting similar behavior of this youth.

In October 2005 Polish newspapers have published a photo showing APY members with gestures of “Sieg Heil”. They explained afterwards that they have been calling a waiter in a restaurant.

The Polish Left Alliance, the biggest left-wing party in Poland, announced already that is going to apply to the Supreme Court to delegalize the All-Polish Youth as a fascist organization.

Marek Edelman, the last living commander of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, who lives in Polish city of Lodz, told the Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper: “All-Polish Youth should have been delegalized years ago. Skinhead campaigning for Libertas in Dublin in 2008

Does anyone know who this Libertas skinhead is? Please email peoplekorps@gmail.com

This skinhead was campaigning for Libertas on Dublin's Grafton Street where he and a gang of Libertas supporters surrounded Irish Green Party Minister John Gormley. Libertas have forged links with the far right across Europe. They are particularly close to the All Polish Youth a far right youth group associated with the League of Polish Families.

Irish Minister John Gormley, Green party, defends himself against Libertas gang in Dublin during the Lisbon campaign.

Who will pay Libertas.cz? Did the KGB fund Ganley's Shelbourne dinner?

When Declan Ganley hosted a Eurosceptic dinner for former communist era Czech state bank employee, and current Czech president, Vaclav Klaus, in Dublin's exclusive Shelbourne Hotel did their common Russian contacts pay the tab?

Czech historian Jan Urban has been making the strong case that Declan Ganley's official biography fails to stack up and his Russian connections may be a lot more sinister than they already seem. Ganley was involved in the Mafia ridden Russian aluminium business in the early 1990s.

He later claimed to own forests in Russia's Voldograd region, Kipelovo Forestry. The problem with Ganley's narrative is that much of the area and indeed what he termed was a disused airforce base were all the property of the Russian military.

In 1995 Ganley told the Irish Times he owned the Kipelovo secret airbase. However the airbase has never been sold and is still the home of the Russian navy Northern air fleet. Ganley's 1995 narrative included the claim that 40 Tupelov Bear F long range bombers were abandoned on his land. There is a shred of truth in this story that indicates that Ganley did have some knowledge of the airbase as the Tupelov bear F was the plane used by the 392 Naval deep reconnaissance regiment. They moved with their planes in 1992. According to Military Today
The Tu-142 Bear-F was designed primarily for anti-submarine warfare and a variety of naval roles. Around 40 examples equip a single Russian naval aviation regiment at Kipelovo, assigned to the Northern Fleet. The major anti-submarine warfare variants are the Tu-142MK Bear-F Mod 3 and improved Tu-142M-Z Bear-F Mod 4, the last of which was completed in 1994.

The 76 anti-aircraft regiment were stationed there with their Tupelov 142 Bear F's until 1997. The base is still in use today.
Ganleys Russian story fails to add up. The Czech historian Jan Urban says that both Ganley's ally Vaclav Klaus and Czech Libertas are tools of covert Russian foreign policies. With Ganley's dubious Russian connections dating back to 1990 he squares the circle concluding that Ganley is somehow still connected to Russian interests.

It is notable that in his own version of his biography, Ganley's first wealth came from selling the Kipelovo forestry firm to Boris Jordon's Renaissance Capital. However the company that owns Kipelovo, National Timber is owned by Glenrock Holdings with an address in Cyprus. Glenrock Holdings was also the name of a Ganley company that was based in Cyprus.

Ariel view of Kipelovo secret military airbase.
that Ganley claimed to own.
Did the Russian military allow him to make these claims in a paper of record because they were working with him?

It seems strange that the Russians would allow a guy to make these claims and not make a comment unless they wanted people to believe that Ganley was wealthy and had influence in Russia so they allowed him to pretend to own military assets.

the story is strange indeed.

O rok později je už prý ekonomickým poradcem lotyšské vlády a získává pohádkové bohatství vývozem hliníkových desek a dřeva z Ruska. Oficiální životopis irského multimilionáře a vedoucího evropského aktivisty proti přijetí Lisabonské smlouvy Declana Ganleyho obsahuje až příliš mnoho podobných nesnadno uvěřitelných míst. I ten to ovšem irské televizi RTE koncem listopadu popřel.

Putin, do roku 1991 aktivní důstojník KGB, v té době vedl na radnici odbor zahraničních vztahů a pouze on uděloval exportní licence.

Kromě obligátních velkoobchodních a poradenských činností se zabývá „poskytováním služeb osobního charakteru“, „zajišťováním ostrahy majetku a osob“ a „službami soukromých detektivů“.

Silná Evropa je oproti pěstování dvoustranných hrátek s Německem, Francií, Británií a Itálií zlým snem „ruských národních zájmů“ v podání Vladimíra Putina a Dmitrije Medvěděva. Czech analyst says Vaclav Klaus and Libertas.cz may be Russian puppets

Analyst: Czech president is under Russian influence

Published: Wednesday 25 March 2009

Many people in the Czech Republic consider their Eurosceptic president Václav Klaus to be influenced by Moscow, Lukas Pachta, a political analyst at Europeum, an EU policy think-tank in Prague, told EurActiv in an interview.

Lukas Pachta is a political analyst at Europeum, a Prague-based think-tank. His main areas of research include current political developments in Europe, EU institutional reform and EU foreign policy.

To read a shortened version of this interview, please click here.

What is the situation following the fall of the government of Mirek Topolánek? What do you expect to happen? Is a new government going to be formed, or will Topolánek stay on as a caretaker prime minister?

Nobody really knows. It depends on the president, Václav Klaus. He is now the most important player.

Have his powers now increased?

Exactly. He is the on, who appoints the new or incumbent prime minister. The question everybody is now asking is whether he will appoint Mirek Topolánek or not. And nobody knows, because Klaus is very unpredictable.

Mirek Topolánek himself used to reassure Brussels journalists, when we asked him about the risk of having a leading Eurosceptic as president of the country that holds the EU presidency, that Klaus' powers are in fact limited. But this is not the case any more. Klaus might like to keep these powers as long as possible...

That's true. He will try to do that. He will, perhaps, appoint Topolánek again. But the question is whether Topolánek will be able to secure the support of the MPs who were against him yesterday. The truth is that the Lisbon Treaty is absolutely on ice. As the Lisbon Treaty has passed the Chamber of deputies and is now stuck in the Senate, the Senate holds the key, and also the president. The Senate is full of older MPs who are reluctant about the Lisbon Treaty. As for the influence of Klaus, it lies in the Senate, and the topic is the Lisbon Treaty.

What about US President Obama's visit to Prague on 5 April? Will Klaus be his main host?

No, it will still be Topolánek. Because he will still be in office, as prime minister in resignation. But the question is how comfortable Obama will be with this situation. I guess Obama will not cancel the visit. There will be an [Obama] speech in Prague for the people. As for the meetings with Topolánek and Klaus, they will only be handshakes, not real meetings.

Maybe if Václav Havel comes round, Obama would be more comfortable?

Yes, Havel will meet Obama briefly. But it'll be considered a private call.

What do you expect from Obama? Will he say at last what his plans are for the missile shield, as the radar on Czech soil seems to be a stumbling block for the Lisbon Treaty's ratification?

I think Obama will announce in Prague that the radar base is no longer a priority. He will not say it with the same words, but implicitly he will say something like that. But this will not help Topolánek. Maybe the White House will neglect to mention the project altogether.

You represent a pro-European Czech think-tank. How do you feel about your country's EU presidency?

I have been feeling rather positive about the presidency. They have achieved something already. I didn't even expect the last European Council to be such a success. Not compared to France, but to Slovenia, I think they are doing quite well.

You may call it a conspiracy theory, but are the Russians behind the vote which toppled Topolánek?

Some people say there is Russian influence behind Klaus and his new party, or the party he supports [Libertas.cz]. Of course, Russia's interest is exactly that – to destabilise the Czech government, to destabilise the EU and to undermine the Lisbon Treaty.

But can you give concrete examples that Klaus is close to the Russians?

There are so many examples! His book was partly financed by Lukoil, he was one of the few European leaders who did not criticise Russia over the Georgia campaign, he recently met the Lukoil CEO, so many suspicious facts… And he has recently been appointed chairman of a Czech company which will be bought by Gazprom.

Yourself and your think-tank: Do you think that Moscow is making an effort to weaken the EU?

Absolutely, yes. But they do it very intelligently, very secretly [and] very professionally.

Illegal deal done in Poland? Stop Libertas corruption: Polish TV TVP corrupt coverage of Declan Ganley denounced in Poland

The face of evil? the sickly looking Polish Goebbels ,Daniel PAWŁOWIEC ,former LPF and currently employed by Declan Ganley as Libertas vp in Poland

The head of Poland's TVP Piotr Farfal is a political appointee from the time the League of Polish Families were in government and he is accused of using the station to promote Declan Ganley and Libertas's far right message - for example giving live coverage for 20 mins to a Ganley press conference and presenting Ganley's activities as the top news stories on TV news.

Farfal is close to Maciej Giertych MEP, the controversial party founder who was once sanctioned by the Euopean parliamnet for producing anti-Semitic booklet

The French-German station Arte recently ended its cooperation with TVP until such time as Farfal is removed from office due to his racist and anti-Semitic pronouncements.

He has now turned over his channel to Libetas Poland.
TVP have responded by threatening to sue anyone who says they are biased towars Ganley.

Ganley has suceeding in causing a serious split in the League of Polish Families, a far right party whose youth wing has been censured for its neo Nazi behaviour.

These people are the true face of Libertas. Corrupt media and the far right fringe.

Daniel PAWŁOWIEC the far right former member of the MLF and its notorious Youth wing and currently co head of Libertas Poland and is employed by Ganley to run their Polish office, has countered with a complaint to Poland's broadcasting authority.

According to Janusz PALIKOT of Platforma Obywatelska a party that determines to protect minorities : "There are signs that an illegal agreement was concluded between Giertych, LPR's remnants and the millionaire Ganley. ABW leaders should begin to watch LPR, the Management Board and representatives ofTV and not transfer any money "- says PALIKOT. I ask
: "Is Poland is a country where money buys public media, and a foreigners policy may lead ourpolitical activities"?

A top Polish TV journalist,
Hanna Lis, refused to interview Declan Ganley despite being requested to so by her boss, Roman Giertych , who is a former League of Polish Families . In 1989, he reactivated the far-right "All-Polish Youth" (Młodzież Wszechpolska) organization, becoming its chairman; he remains honorary chairman to this day.

"I am not for hire" was Ms. Lis's response.

It sounds like the Polish people are not willing to be ground down by Libertas buying power and will continue to resist Declan Ganley's far right alliance.

Kraśko zawiesił się w "Wiadomościach"
Agnieszka Kublik 2009-03-24, ostatnia aktualizacja 2009-03-24 08:10:07.0

Poszło o to co jest tematem dnia. Prezes TVP Piotr Farfał na antenie
telewizji publicznej realizuje partyjne cele swego środowiska
politycznego, czyli LPR-u - skarżą się dziennikarze

To pierwszy tak poważny konflikt dziennikarzy z nowym prezesem. Poszło
o promowanie na antenie TVP Declana Ganleya, ekscentrycznego
milionera, który doprowadził do fiaska traktatu lizbońskiego w
Irlandii.

cyklu "Temat dnia" w prime time, tuż po "Teleexpressie".

"Temat dnia" spadł w piątek z ramówki, ale mimo to - jak nieoficjalnie
mówi się w TVP - Farfał kazał nagrać wywiad, aby był gotowy na
poniedziałek. Miała go przeprowadzić Hanna Lis. Odmówiła. Wtedy
poproszono Piotra Kraśkę. Zgodził się. Jak mówią dziennikarze
"Wiadomości" liczył, że do poniedziałku problem zniknie, a wywiad
wyląduje w koszu. Wczoraj wylądował na antenie "Jedynki".

Ganley z puszki

wywiad pójdzie w poniedziałek, to zrezygnuje z prowadzenia
"Wiadomości".

Jego koledzy mówią, że poszło o zasady: - Ganley nie był tematem nr
jeden w poniedziałek, w ogóle nie był wczoraj tematem dnia. Nie było
żadnego merytorycznego powodu, aby to emitować. To klasyczny przypadek
upolitycznienia i upartyjnienia TVP. Piotrek nie miał innego wyjścia,
jak zrezygnować.

Sam Kraśko wczoraj nie chciał komentować sprawy.

TVP potwierdziła wczoraj: Kraśko zachorował i nie będzie mógł
prowadzić "Wiadomości" do czwartku. Zastąpi go Małgorzata Wyszyńska.

Szef KRRiT Witold Kołodziejski (z rekomendacji PiS) jest oburzony
emisją wywiadu: - W najbliższych dniach podejmiemy w tej sprawie
kroki.

telewizji publicznej realizuje partyjne cele swego środowiska
politycznego.

Farfał miejsce w zarządzie TVP zawdzięcza rekomendacji byłego prezesa
LPR Romana Giertycha.
zapewnić im rozgłos i pieniądze.

Giertych w TVN 24 chwalił Farfała za to promowanie Ganleya. - Libertas

Tymczasem dwie osoby z rekomendacji LPR w radzie nadzorczej - jej szef
Łukasz Moczydłowski i zastępca Ireneusz Fryszkowski - twierdzą, że
nigdy żadnych porad prawnych u Giertycha nie zasięgali. - Ani w
imieniu rady, ani prywatnie.

Libertas to launch in Rome today? Keep Rome free of Libertas fascists. Shun Ganley and the far right

Libertas have said they would launch in Rome today. As you will have seen this blogger asked people to write to Pope Benedict asking him not to meet with Ganley prior to the European elections.
Though Libertas were due to launch a manifesto today, this has been put back until May according to Ganley. However he told Polish far right politicians in February that the campaign would be based on a "few simple slogans". This runs entirely contry to the nmessage Libertas are hoping to thrust at waht they hope will be a gullible electorate and first time voters that they are attempting to target through internet social networks.
Parents beware these fascist are after your children minds.

Libertas Nein Danke calls on all Roman citizens who to express their detestation of fascism and shun Declan Ganley and his nascent Fourth Reich.

I would like to thank all the people who contacted me to say they had written to the vatican as I asked in an earlier post.

Call for Pope not to meet Ganley
Libertas is to its reveal candidates in Rome on 25 March, the 52nd Anniversary of the signing Treaty of Rome which established the EEC.

Catholics who oppose Ganley's right wing agenda should write to the Pope Benedict XVI and ask him not to meet Ganley as it would appear to be a political gesture. Ganley has already met Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz in Poland and last week at a meeting of the John Paul II Society he stated that he was opposed to abortion and same sex marriage. The US Defence contractor (Rivada) went on "“Christ calls us to be ambassadors for his message"

The pope should not support this US defence contractor in his bid to divide Europe. He may be a practising Catholic but he is one among millions of European Catholics. Organisations like Pax Christi actively campaign for unification and peace what do Libertas stand for? They are supporter by a far right fringe throughout Europe. European Catholics do not want wars.

Ganley is supported by people who wish to wedge a divide between Europe and its neighbours as well as the European neighbours. Libertas seek to woe Catholic voters with their stance on abortion and same sex marriage but their divisive message is not a Catholic message.
See how Libertas wish to use Catholics for their own gains
According to Libertas "‘‘The speech that Declan gave last week,” said an aide about his remarks to the Catholic groups, ‘‘that might serve him well in the west of Ireland and Poland. But we can’t have candidates saying that sort of thing in the Czech Republic or Sweden."

Say Yes to Peace Say No to Libertas.
