France's MPF split over Libertas being too close to NATO and Ganley changing his position

On the day that Libertas launch in France. Phillipe de Villiers' party has split his over allience with Libertas. MEP Paul-Marie Coûteaux has decided to leave MPF which has forged an alliance with Libertas. This is another blow for Ganley as Paul-Marie Coûteaux was one of the 80 people who attended Ganley's Eurosceptic dinner in honour of Vaclav Klaus. Ganley gathered fanatics from the fringes of European politics to form his unique alliance.
Coûteaux recently said that French Justice Minister Rachida Dati was not integrated as she had called her child Zohra. For one eurosceptic the news of Ganley's board appointments of CIA advisor Gen Richard Myers who was Bush's leading military advisor for his invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. In the UK he was forced to appoint an employee to lead the party, Lt Col Robin Matthews, who is also chef de cabinet for Libertas in Brussels. Last year he was the spokesperson for the British/NATO war effort in Helmand province, Afghanistan. France also has 3000 troops in Afghanistan at present.
In his statement's headline Coûteaux declares "No to the Europe of the crisis, not NATO, not to impotence,Oui à la France ! Yes to France!" . Ganley's close alliance with the US military will win him few friends among hard right nationalists as he rolls out his party. The questions raised by Libertas's offer of one million Euro to a Swedish party may also have caused problems for those who signed up early like Coûteaux. Libertas have been negotiating with different parties across Europe and the amount of backing offered in cash in different countries may be causing jealousy among Ganley's new friends.

Coûteaux refused to allow Ganley to take control of his voting list for Ile de France. he now says he has the support of "friend" in the MPF and 30 federtations to launch a party.

Le Monde reports that the sovereignty movement has been split by Libertas.

L'eurodéputé Paul-Marie Coûteaux, élu sous l'étiqhttp://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=3889752572638941328uette du Mouvement pour la France (MPF) de Philippe de Villiers, dénonce l'alliance de ce dernier avec l'homme d'affaires irlandais Declan Ganley, leader du non au référendum en Irlande sur le traité de Lisbonne. Le MPF et Chasse, pêche, nature et traditions (CPNT) de Frédéric Nihous, qui lançaient leur campagne mercredi 11 mars, seront fusionnés le temps des élections européennes de juin dans Libertas, un parti créé à l'échelle européenne par M. Ganley. Mais Libertas divise les souverainistes : M. Ganley est atlantiste, libre-échangiste, favorable à l'euro, à l'entrée de la Turquie dans l'UE. "Je n'endosse pas ce programme", dit M. Coûteaux, gaulliste et anti-atlantiste, idéologue du MPF. Il conduira lui-même une liste souverainiste en Ile-de-France ou rejoindra celle de Nicolas Dupont-Aignan.
